Two local rowers have had to be rescued from the Caribbean when finding themselves in trouble near the end of the gruelling Atlantic Rowing Race. The pair, from the Roseland Gig Club at St Mawes, were later rescued 100 miles east of the finish line in Antigua during severe weather and having taken to their liferaft. Congratulations to Bob Warren & Chris Barrett who succeeded in reaching a point only 100 miles from the finish in Antigua. The rescue was launched by Falmouth coastguards.

Sadly, due to totally unforeseen circumstances the opera The Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicolai which was to have been staged here on the front lawn at Trewince and in other summer open air venues by New Cornwall Opera has been cancelled. There will, however, be a spectacular Opera Gala Concert in Portscatho Memorial Hall on Friday July 15th at 7.30. Tickets available (£8) from Trewince or Ralph's shop.

DAFFODILS IN TREWINCE WOODS April 2005
The daffodils in the woods are now finished, but bluebells and masses of purple violets are replacing them.
The Cornish hedgerows are beautiful with their displays of yellow primroses.

Our pictures of Ellen MacArthur as she sailed into Falmouth. We watched her arrival from St Anthony's Head. Most exciting! Here she is approaching Falmouth and moored in Port Pendennis. February 2005

2004 NEWS
TIMESHARE
We are celebrating the news that we have been given an RCI Hospitality award and are well in line for Gold Crown status.
More good news:
RCI has undertaken a major review of the season bands for Cornwall, and has decided to UPGRADE the following weeks for all owners; banked weeks will also be upgraded.
Weeks 7&8 will change from Blue to White
Weeks 9-12 will change from White to Red
Weeks 48 & 49 will change from Blue to White.
PICTURE this....
RCI (Timeshare Exchange company) commissioned a survey which has painted a new picture of the "typical" UK timeshare owner, who is likely to be a qualified professional or company director earning more than £30,000 a year, driving a BMW or Mercedes and who has visited up to six different countries in the past two years. "More Dev Allaghan than Les Battersby", apparently. Two thirds of those who took part in the survey said that they bought timeshare in order to exchange to other resorts across the world. Three quarters of those polled said the beach was essential, with many seeking water sports, skiing or hiking; cultural activities were also high on the list of requirements.
JOINED UP RIVER AND SEA ROUTES
New routes have been opened up around the Roseland and the Fal Estuary. New ways have been introduced to enable visitors to get round the area by water. People who miss the last ferry home or want to stay out late can use the water taxi - just like Venice. Seems like a very civilised way to see the beauties of the area .
New venture! How do you fancy going on a SEA_FARI? During your stay at Trewince you will have the chance to "awaken your senses" with an interactive environmental experience aboard the largest 12 seater 35' rigid inflatable boat in the South West. Customised cruises will be available, starting from Trewince Quay, and you will be able to cruise the stunning Cornish coast and creeks.

The rails are being fitted on the mezzanine floor (where spectators can view the pool & have a drink); pool hand rail is fitted; the tiles inside the pool are having a final polish before the water goes in tomorrow. The spa bath is in place and surrounding tiled walls almost complete. The new reception area is taking shape - computer systems with camera and secure card entry for the pool are ready to go.

"A Personal View"

After many successful years in the Touring business it is with sadness that we have decided to hand back the site to the Symons family, who have farmed the land next door for several generations. They will be continuing to run the site in the same relaxed way that we have done and have already made many improvements! All bookings will now be handled by them. Please contact Trewince Farm 01872 580430 to make a Touring reservation.
ROSELAND BETWEEN RIVER AND SEA
We were absolutely thrilled to find that the excellent book "The Roseland between River and Sea" by Laurence O'Toole (former Gerrans village schoolmaster) has been reprinted. We have copies on sale here at Trewince.
EXCITING HISTORICAL FIND
old bottle

This bottle was an exciting discovery made during work on the Cottage.
The words say:
" S Johns Trewince 1768"
Stephen Johns was in residence at Trewince at that time and this sturdy bottle would have been personalised for him.

TREWINCE FARM HORSERIDING
Trewince farm horse riding
