Gerrans Parish Heritage & Information Centre / 01.12.12
The Centre was originally an old forge, built in the 1790s, which was later was used as an artist's studio.
On display are exhibits such as Farming through the Ages, the Fishing Industry, Education, Domesday Book entries, the Manors (including Trewince), World Wars, Coastguards, Churches, Chapels and much more. They are illustrated by photographs, tithe maps, documents, parish records and other artefacts. We have loaned to the Heritage Centre a bottle found at Trewince during renovations. It has a glass seal inscribed "S Johns Trewince 1768".
"Music making" was the theme for the 2009 exhibition, whilst the 2010 Exhibition illustrated "The Enys Influence in Gerrans Parish". For 2011 the choice was "Worship in the Parish", aiming to show the origins of Christian worship in the two parishes (now combined for administrative purposes) of St Gerrans and St Anthony-in-Roseland.
